JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRESSION

We offer a comprehensive Junior Tennis program designed for children of all ages and skill levels. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to helping your child develop their tennis skills while fostering a love for the sport. To facilitate the progress of our junior players, we have structured our junior tennis into different groups: Jr Program (Tots, Stars, and Jr/Hs) Jr Academy (Advanced Stars & Tournament Training) & Elite Training. As your child progresses in their skills and confidence, our instructors will evaluate their readiness to move up to the next level. Please see our Junior Tennis Progression below.  We look forward to supporting your child's tennis journey!

JUNIOR TOURNAMENTS

Tournament 283 x 188

Our goal at MTC is to provide a program that allows each Jr.  player the opportunity to progress and reach their tennis goals.  Therefore, I would like to outline the progression for our players as it applies to match play and tournaments.

The first opportunity for players to play organized matches at MTC is through our Friday night Junior Round Robins.  Our Junior Round Robins are designed for the  advanced-beginner and intermediate players to get match experience.  The prerequisite for entering the Junior Round Robins are:  Must get instructor approval, Players must be able to get their serve in 50% of the time, they must be able to rally 3-4 balls in a row with other kids, and they must be able to keep score.

As players progress and are doing well in the Junior Round Robins they should move on to USTA or UTR tournaments.  The USTA & UTR have several tournaments every weekend throughout Southern California.  If you are new to tournament play I would suggest starting with USTA Level 7 tournament.  Level 7 tournaments are typically multiple match formats. The next step with the USTA is level 6.  Most players at Level 6 tournaments are able to develop points with power and spin.  As players are able to handle the competition of Level 6 tournaments they are ready to move on to Level 5, level  4, and Level 2 events.  Please see the links below for more information on our Junior Round Robins, USTA Tournaments & UTR Tournaments.
